Swansea City lost again last night, this time to Leicester City, 3-1. It was a slight improvement on the previous two games which saw the Swans ship eight goals, but that’s eleven goals conceded in three matches, fixtures which were all littered with incredibly naive passing mistakes.

Luke Williams doesn’t have the players to continually try and play out from the back. Both his keepers in the last two matches have passed poorly to an unmarked Swans player, and the result has been two goals conceded. If that was the only thing we have to be concerned about then it wouldn’t be so bad, but it’s not. Leicester opened this game well, but Jerry Yates had the best opening chance, he failed to convert. From that missed opportunity the Foxes out thought the Swans defence with a slide rule pass for Dewsbury-Hall to open the scoring. It looked offside, it was a close call. ( below) The Swans defence were far too high, and clearly unorganised as Jay Fulton and Harry Darling could only react to a slide rule pass. The energy of Dewsbury-Hall and his awareness was far ahead of both players. Fulton gave up the chase, Darling tried to recover and the expected result is what always happens when the Swans are caught napping. An early lead for the home side.

A bitter pill to swallow, especially after all the warning signs this month since Luke Williams took over matters. Credit where it’s due, Jerry Yates had two good attempts at goal after the Foxes opened the scoring. However the home side also saw a shot deflected on to the bar by keeper, Carl Rushworth. Then somehow with the Swans defence in disarray another effort was misjudged when a tap in looked easier for Stephy Mavididi. The issue again seems to be a lack of defensive thought and definitely a lack of effort. Other chances came and went and the Swans were lucky to go in at half time at just 1-0 down.

The second half started with an even more glaring miss right in front of goal by Dewsbury-Hall. This seemed to give the visitors confidence and Jamie Paterson was up next after picking up a pass from a long ball. His effort whistled just past the goal. Then calamity number two occurred. Bashir Humphreys miscalculated a duel with his opposite number Daka who raced through on goal. Nathan Wood chased back and tackled Daka quite fairly. Wood slid across the front of the player collecting the ball as Daka fell over the top of him. Referee Keith Stroud (below) immediately gave a penalty which was duly slotted home by Mavididi.

Stroud is forever changing the outcomes of games with his sheer incompetence.

Minutes later a ridiculous pass out from Rushworth was intercepted before Ben Cabango could wake up to the danger, a few passes later and it was 3-0. Another mistake, and other goal. Coupled with Stroud’s nonsense minutes before, the game was lost. The Swans only had themselves to blame. Joe Allen did nick one back on ninety five minutes but by then the damage had been done by the Swans, to the Swans.

The good news is that Ronald made his debut last night.He definitely has pace and we shouldn’t be expecting magic moments just yet, but he is one good piece of news on this game. The other bad news was the injury to Harry Darling, it isn’t looking good and he will have scans this afternoon. The questions that remains unanswered is why Mykola isn’t getting any game time.

We’ve heard from Luke Williams (above) this week that he can’t convince players to come to Swansea as the club are in a lowly position in the Championship. The Swans being beaten to two signatures by better placed clubs in the league. Well, that’s the fault of the clubs ‘hierarchy’ as far as we are concerned, and nobody else. The Michael Duff appointment was foolish, the sacking inevitable and the sums paid out to first secure Duff and his coaches, and then to sack them has been poorly thought out ? Inexperienced management at the very top. The players also have to take some blame, they aren’t competent enough to think clearly throughout a ninety minute game of football. They can’t even concentrate on danger after two minutes. The ridiculous passing errors continue game after game, and there was evidence last night that commitment and bravery seem to be lacking.

The next game is against Plymouth Argyle (KO 3pm) this Saturday at the Swansea.Com Stadium.
