Approach forthcoming for Chris Davies ? It’s about time !
Thursday, 14th Dec 2023 08:00 by Keith Haynes

Despite the numerous rumours, speculation and general guesswork surrounding Swansea Chairman Andrew Coleman and his search for a new Swansea head coach, a ‘formal’ second approach is yet to be made.

Inside the club : We do know since the rejection last week that there has been further contact, but only to see where Chris Davies stands regards the Swans talking to him, and Spurs Chairman, Daniel Levy’s position in all this. What we do know as well is that Swansea are entering in to financial territory to land Davies they have not been in since relegation from the Premier League.

We explored the difficulties Coleman and his personal assistant, Ken Gude will meet with on Sunday.

That’s here —> ⚽️ Levy v Coleman

The reason for the long wait could be a number of things, the very fact Coleman will face Levy at some point - if he deems Davies to be a credible appointment, it won’t be an easy time for him. Plus, caretaker Alan Sheehan has secured four points away from home against Rotherham United and Stoke City. Has Sheehan turned the Chairmans head ? Saturdays game will go ahead with Sheehan in charge for a third time against Middlesbrough (KO 3pm) Maybe, the Swans have seen the enormity of their task, pretty much created by themselves, and don’t like the finances ?

Either way news is short on the next move by the Swans.

The worry will always be the Chairman and Gude don’t have more than nine months or so between them running a British football club. As we stated in the article from Sunday above, Levy will most certainly play it as hard as they’ve ever experienced in business before. And for people reflecting on both of Coleman and Gude’s business successes we suggest a more in-depth look is needed.

We broke the news on Ken Gude coming to Swansea, and included a look at him and his business past.

That’s here —> ⚽️ Who is Ken Gude ?

That went down like the proverbial lead balloon with the club, who then started a witchhunt as to where the information came from. They could have saved a lot of effort and asked me. Not that I would have told them. The clubs exerted efforts to find out where our Hannes Wolf signing info came from was fascinating. Some of those internal emails ! Even last Christmas at Reading both Russell Martin and Matt Gill probed me for the source. That was the same day that communications bod, Ben Donovan stated if this website would ‘toe the party line’ he would give us a donation for the brain tumour charity. A shirt or something. Ha, toe the party line ?

This website ?

Our Ben needs to do his homework, and not only on this website but also on who our normal every day contacts are. A few on here go back to days when the club needed saving. And not just from Tony Petty, well before that as well with Silver Shield and the scrawny sideshow that followed them. We’ve got more tactics than a tactical shop selling tactical things to a bloke looking for tactics. Anyway, I digress, there will be a lot more on that, maybe on Christmas day ?

For the current we see nothing in the ‘manager pending’ in tray, we used to see this a lot when the majority owners took over the club. However, the appointments until Michael Duff were impressive, all of them, once the club were relegated that is. Credit where it’s due. We care about Swansea, not making hordes of money.

So, that’s the state of play, it’s all pending and of course depending on the skills or otherwise of this current set up. Not many are hopeful, but we remain positive, what else can we do ?

For now.

Yes it is nice to see some one has the club at heart and knows what has gone within the club as well the ones that run our club will not spend good money on a new and experienced manager always getting some one on the cheep and telling them there is no money in he pot for new players so what experience manager would won't to come like that the club will not improve with that attitude.
