Alan Sheehan : They brought on The Land Of The Giants, this one is for the football club Sunday, 10th Dec 2023 08:00 by Liam Walters It’s hard to say at this moment in time if Alan Sheehan has the credentials to prevent another ill thought out and unplanned bail out of Swansea City. But he managed to secure a win at Rotherham United yesterday afternoon, so he’s one step ahead of Michael Duff already. Sheehan’s emotion burned through in his pre match talk, and it again shone through yesterday post Match. With England’s international coach, Martyn Margetson by his side as the teams came out there was a very different feel to this game. Alan Sheehan symbolised the passion he has for his current role as the Swans defeated Rotherham 2-1 at the New York stadium. It was his first match in charge and in three days time it’s Stoke City away before a home game against Middlesbrough on the weekend. He couldn’t have done any more in such a short space of time as his side hung on for this crucial win. Post match Sheehan said. “The overall feeling is one of pride, for the players, the staff and everyone connected with the club. They have all stood up during a tough week and really supported me. Everyone has stuck together and it shows what a special place it is. They are physical side, they have had a good record at home and we knew we would need to be able to stand up to that. We controlled large amounts of the game and some of the passages of play were excellent” Really the interim Swans head coach (below) couldn’t have wished for much more, three points at a testing ground to visit was always going to be a big ask. However where Leeds United, Ipswich and Southampton (away) have failed this season, the Swans triumphed. That should be a big positive to take from todays game. The Swans beat a team who have taken on the best in this league and pushed them right to the wire. And none of them defeated this Millers side. Everything from yesterday, click below.
