Key Swansea City player to leave this week ( PA )
Sunday, 30th Jul 2023 20:17 by Swansea Independent

Olivier Ntcham seems destined to leave Swansea city this week for Samsunspor in Turkey on Tuesday evening having played his last game for the Swans at Reading on Saturday. In what is clearly an agent generated story we remain on the sidelines regards this. However, this is the latest.

Ntcham’s agent speaking to a contact of this website this morning said, “Olivier’s time seems to have has come to a finish at Wales and the club. He has been so thankful for the club and its time, but now it’s a new life away possibly in Turkey” In total Ntcham played eighty games for the Swans and of the eleven goals he scored the majority are memorable. Many will recall his first goal for the Swans against Luton at Kenilworth Road.

With his contract up next summer the Swans have negotiated what is ‘being described’ as a very satisfactory transfer fee for the Cameroon international. Before choosing Cameroon he played at every level for France. He always offered something different to the Swans scoring crucial goals, one last season at Watford ensured the Swans went on to win the game at Vicarage Road.

Manning & Ntcham leave a big gap in Duff’s selection options

That’s now utility player Ryan Manning leaving as a free agent last month, and now it seems Ntcham is on his way from the club. Both contributed hugely to the squad last season and a replacement for Ntcham will be very hard to find in the immediate. Jay Fulton remains at the club and captain Matt Grimes is still tentatively being connected to a move away.

There is an explanation as to how these stories are generated in our previous report today.

Ntcham's career was in the doldrums when he joined Swansea having been trolled by Andreas Villas Boaz at PSG. AVB resigned rather than accept Ntcham as a signing which must have been quite dispiriting.

If he does well he could be with on of the Istanbul giants next season. I like to jhear players saying nice things about the club when they leave.
