We Can Nulify United Threat Saturday, 29th Aug 2015 22:58 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews) Manchester United come to the Liberty tomorrow afternoon on the back of a comprehensive 4-0 win over Club Bruges in midweek - a result that secured their progress to the next stages of the Champions League. That progress was courtesy of a Wayne Rooney hat-trick with his first goals for the club since April and coming at a perfect time as he prepares to go after the all time England goalscoring record against Switzerland and San Marino. The Swans will though be looking to ensure that his Premier League drought continues - Rooney has not scored in the league for nine games and we will be desperate to make that ten on Sunday by nullifying the threat that he poses. And Garry Monk believes that he has found a way of doing that and it is easy to see how he believes that as he does have a habit of neutralising the attacking threat of the bigger names in the division and we certainly have seen evidence over the last 18 months of a great unity in defence against these teams. Monk said: “With Wayne Rooney, you have to be prepared for him at his best. “In midweek, he showed what he is capable of — and we need to prepare for him to play like that. “I think service is the key to any goal. A player won’t score a goal on his own, unless he gets it off the keeper and dribbles through the whole team. “We have a way that we think may nullify them — but we have to defend as a team and get through the tough periods.” Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
