Swansea CIty could find themselves on top of the Premier League this evening if we get the win hey desire against West Brom which would give us our best ever start to a Premier League season.

Two years ago we won our first two league games (and secured progress in the Capital One Cup) before disappointingly only managing a draw in our third game to take seven points from nine. A win today would take us to nine from nine and leave us heading into the first international break of the season in a Champions League spot.

Now while dreams of qualification for the Champions league are just slightly premature you put this into context to last season when we went into the third league game of the season (ironically against West Brom) searching for our first points and at the opposite end of the table.

It is amazing how much difference twelve months can make to a football team and after a surprise win at Old Trafford on the opening day of the season we followed it up last weekend with a hard fought - but ultimately deserved - win over Burnley.

That win last week took our form when you add back in the end of last season to five league wins out of six and if we can extend that this afternoon with another win then it would leave Garry Monk in with a fantastic chance of picking up his first manager of the month award as he exceeds expectations with results on the pitch.

And the ironic part is that all week the manager has talked about us needing to improve our performances which can only be a good thing if we make that step up in performance as it can surely only mean that more points beckon as we move quickly towards the first points target of the season.

As mentioned above we will take two weeks rest after this game due to the first run of internationals which is frustrating if we continue our form with a win however it also means that we have extra time for players to increase their fitness and also allow additional time for the recent new signings (and any more that may arrive in the next couple of days) to settle into the squad.

Team news wise there are no new injuries for the manager to worry about and (as predicted earlier in the week) I can see us being unchanged for the third successive league game which is a rare luxury for any manager. That would mean a strong looking bench that should include Gomis, Montero, Carroll and Fernandez giving us options all over the park if things are not going to plan.

Interestingly we have a good record against West Brom in this division having won four of the previous six meetings however it should be noted here that West Brom won the last meeting between the two at the Liberty back in March. Despite that game being less than 6 months ago it is likely that only 5 of the 14 players that featured on that day will be in today's team showing just how much football can change in such a short period of time.

Given the run of the fixtures we had at the start of the season I would imagine that we targeted six points going into the international break so whatever happens this afternoon we are on target but it would definitely feel like points dropped if we didn't pick up at least a draw this afternoon.

The Liberty is closing in on another sell out for this game and as fans we need to be completely behind the team today and we know that we are good enough to get the three points and I think we probably will.
