£16m for Wilf?? Liverpool Comedy Lives On Friday, 15th Aug 2014 08:18 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews) So today's papers tell us that Liverpool are about to up their '£12.5m offer' for Wilf with an extended one for £16m and former manager Brendan Rodgers believes that will be enough to part us to sell. It seems that not being content with his new look and new lifestyle Brendan has now seemingly invested in a new brain but one that hasn't quite grasped the value of a footballer. Maybe Brendan's purse strings are slightly tighter after feeder club Southampton sold him Adam Lallana for £25m and Delan Lovren for £20m but just because you spend all your pocket money it doesn't make other people sell you players well under a market value. In fact if Liverpool do come forward with a bid among the reported level then you would hope that as a club we send them packing and make it reasonably public that the insult was made in the first place. The best part is the papers giving column inches to the story almost as if it has some credence. They talk about Bony being Liverpool's first choice to replace the departed Suarez - presumably that first choice is behind all the other strikers they have tried to sign. They then talk about Bony's wage demands being an issue for Liverpool which is quite interesting that we seemingly could now outpay the five time European Champions. I'm sorry that I don't worry about this story in the format that it is written and direct from the Chairman's mouth last night we heard that no bids had been received for Wilf this summer so I guess that puts to bed the final part of the story that their previous £12.5m bid had failed. Silly season just got sillier. Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
