Mel Charles Tribute 12:41 - Oct 2 with 1185 viewsLandore_Jack

Thought it was a disgrace. No black arm bands. Both teams were not around the centre circle. It was done 15 minutes before kick off so not all spectators were in the stands. This is a club legend. A player that devoted the majority of his career to the Swans. A complete lack of respect by the club.

I mentioned this yesterday to a mate, he reckons we are doing something more specific later on, a minutes clapping wouldn't have harmed mind. Too busy sniffing round the yanks backsides and forgot more likely.

Agree. Too many people down there have forgotten what we are about. If it continues this way a few will have some uncomfortable experiences with our fans, the level of frustration is building and it's not got a lot to do with the players on the pitch or the manager.

We have been shafted and not paying tribute to a local legend in the correct manner is yet another example of how far out of touch they are.

The time to pay tribute was yesterday, plain and simple .

My Mrs said the same, I was getting a coffee when Kevin John's talked about Mel, that was about 5 mins before Ko, I managed to get up to the concourse to add to the clapping, but it was a poor effort from the Club unfortunately it doesn't surprise anyone though, the "family club" ethic has long gone.

When they put the tributes to him up on the screens, perhaps we as fans should have started clapping all-round the Stadium.

I agree, the tributes were terrible, he deserved more, I personally did clap when the tribute was on the screen in the second half, but it was rather unexpected and at the time was a crucial time in the match, so most people were concentrating on the pitch. If it had been announced we were having a minutes applause/tribute in the second half I think it would have been far more respected. Another pointless, needless mistake from the club

I found it a bit strange too.

It was as if it was an informal tribute instead of a formal one.

Pretty upset to think both sets of players weren't rounded up in the centre circle just priority kick off and whistle blown for a minutes silence.

This was Mel Charles.

One of our best

I can guarantee the likes of Liverpool would have shown just what respect for a club legend is all about.

Was anything said or done for Russ Coughlin either?

considering most clubs these days are quite happy to pull out the black arm bands for anyone even loosely connected with their clubs, yesterday did seem very low key for a club legend.

and in answer to blaze I don't think there was, not that I recall anyway.

There was a mention in the Hull programme, nothing over the PA and no black arm bands were worn.

I agree with ice cold, this is not going to end quietly.
