Manchester Is Blue
Tuesday, 13th May 2014 10:13

"MANCHESTER IS BLUE".....That was the message loud and clear from the tens of thousands of City fans and players alike who celebrated City's double winning season in the city centre yesterday. Captain Vincent Kompany led the Premier League and Capital One Cup champs on an open-top bus tour of the city in front of an adoring public.

It all started at Albert Square where the waiting crowds were entertained by a brass band blasting out Manchester classics. Jason Manford then took to the stage and insisted the crowd joined him in giving a cheer to a dear comedian friend of his who had moved on. The friend in question turning out to be the one and only David Moyes. Manford then rang scouse comedian John Bishop who had been refusing to answer the phone to him. When the phone went straight through to Bishop's answer phone the crowd gave a rousing chorus of the now infamous Stevie Gerrard song!!

The team and manager then took to the stage where Kompany and Hart lifted the trophies once more to fireworks and masses of blue and white ticker tape.

Kompany declared “Manchester is blue today and it’s a pretty sight. The streets are blue, the skies are blue, the moon is blue as everyone knows!”

““There has to be more,” he roared, “always more!” before promising further glory would soon be on the way.

“We are growing,” he said. “We did it in style. That’s what I like and that’s what I want to do in the future - keep winning in style.”

The players boarded the bus and slowly moved their way through the 100,000 estimated fans thronging the route. Chants of "Championies" rang out. Manchester really has turned blue and the day came to a close on a truly memorable day.
