Some of the usual suspects in Twitter are saying that he has being sacked and that it's a sign that the club is rotten to the core.
Obviously it's sad that a man long associated with QPR is being let go, but is it just a case that he was part of the last first team coaching setup which was deemed a failure and JFH is perfectly entitled to appoint his own back room? Would he still be employed if he never joined Ramsey's back room team and stayed working with youth?
I don't know any details, but it does feel as though some revel in using these instances as rods to be beat the club with.

The guy may have been here many years, he may be a good coach, but when he took the first team coaching / Assistant Manager role he must have known that a change of manager would in all likelihood lead to him leaving his job. If he wanted job security he should have turned it down and stayed with the youth. This is professional football and no one is guaranteed a position

Putting sentiment and the name Gallen aside to be fair under his tenure as a youth team coach the number of kids that have broken through to be first team regulars has been pretty slim to put it politely.
I'll give it till the end of the day before Les convinces Tony f That Bam Bam his pet shitzu, is perfect for the role of youth development and acquisitions .
if true, Great reward for a bloke that has worked in a department that has been neglected over the years more than thora hirds love tunnel , with a budget that ronnie barkers Prison team from the porridge xmas special would consider an insult.
youth development at QPR ??, Ali bongo wouldnt touch it.

If Steve Gallen is out and Chris Ramsey is back in as technical director of football then I have lost all faith in QPR.
Les Ferdinand has a lot to answer for. Continual mixed messages - are we going for the top 6 place or a consolidation and rebuild? Playing experience or giving youngsters a go? Is he a yes man trying to appease the owners?
He is the Director of Football. He recruits the players - of the players we signed in the summer only Gareth Hall is doing ok QPR has turned Massimo Luongo from the player of the tournament in the Asian Cup for Australia into a player that gets no game time for QPR - this is crazy He failed to sell Fer, Caulker, Austin, Sandro, Phillips and others - this is holding us back We continually play old players past their prime (including loan signings) and any youngsters or skilful players are not given a game
He helped get rid of Redknapp which was good but ever since then we have gone backwards and I believe Les Ferdinand is more accountable than everyone apart from Ramsey - who lost his job and then was reemployed by QPR Is he trying to keep his overpaid and unrequired role? What is he actually accountable for?
Our fitness is a joke - he should be sorting it out. Who are the other coaches we have? Did they go through the same rigorous recruitment process that we followed for JFH? I hope so.
I think the pressure will well and truly be on Ferdinand soon - not JFH - who does not become a bad manager overnight.
Finally I would like to point out QPR fans are not racist. We want the best people at QPR whether they are black, white, orange, green or blue. It is Les that keeps bringing up his recruitment of blacks - not us fans (22mins 30 seconds through to just after 23 minutes) I just want the best people at QPR regardless of their background

sad that he's gone but the minute he stepped upto the first team he wasn't going to be around much longer as his old position was filled.
Maybe Dave, but it says little for loyalty to one of the club's longest serving. Will be interesting to see what the club says today given no official statement yet but Twitter full of the story..

Ferdinand answers a question that many on here, twitter and facebook have been asking about why so many black coaches, he didn't bring it up at all
We've quickly moved from the it's all Redknapps fault to it's all Ramseys fault now Ferdinand is the scapegoat. Once we drive him out we'll have to find someone new

I don't think it's unfair to say that no one has done a very good job at QPR in the past 12 months - Ramsey, Les, Ruben, TF - Lee Hoos may be the only exception to that currently.
I like Steve Gallen and by all accounts he was doing the best he could when the youth set up was woefully underfunded, but he was unproven as a first team coach and if JFH wants his own coaches then you can't really argue with that.

Promoted to be fired. Told straight from the horses mouth. But Les says he doesn't care about giving his mates job so that's that. A joke.
i don't buy that, if he was promoted to be fired then the plan all along was to sack Ramsey as well which makes no sense at all. Gallen has been unfortunate and I think it's the wrong move to let him go but this always happens when you get a change of manager

I do think thats nonsense, he was promoted to give him an opportunity, unfortunately the Ramsey coaching team was unable to meet the results / targets expected of them. It is a simple fact of life that the more you get promoted / the higher you get in any walk of life the more precarious your position comes as you gain more responsibility. His brother has gone and done well as a coach elsewhere and I am sure he will too

1. Steve Gallen's appearances on Open All R's were two of the most inspiring podcasts 2. Tony McCool's account of his time in the Youth Academy showed Gallen to be a beacon of normality at a time when people were becoming dehumanised and irrational under the chaotic Rigg regime (the Beckham episode is very telling) http://tonymccool.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/academy-football-coach-my-time-in-my.ht
We have had endless denunciations of mercenaries on this board. If there is a man who does not fall into that category it is Steve Gallen. Hopefully he will return in the not too distant future.

Assuming this is all true. In hindsight, Steve Gallen was probably unwise to accept the promotion (!) to first team coach. However, he did and his previous post was back filled. Now, with JFH bringing in his own people, there is no role for SG. The threat of FFP is looming and we cannot just create positions even for loyal servants.
You could also argue that, in his role as Youth team coach, he did nothing to bring any players through. IMHO, that would be grossly unfair as recruitment and training facilities were out of his hands. You cannot make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
I'd hope they can leave the door open to bring him back as he is just the sort of person this club needs.

Steve Gallen and Kevin Gallen told me this. Move him out of the position he couldn't be fired from in order to fire him down the line. He was not intrinsically linked to Ramsey by any means.
