I am wondering why he was not made Head of the Academy. That might have been a more natural progression. Perhaps he prefers a more hands-on role (assuming he had any choice in the matter).

Ain't gonna make myself popular with this.....but roughly gallens time as youth coach etc co-incides with some very lean years in terms of decent youngsters making the first team. Plus it was an academy that found Sterling, who Gallen worked with and, although he didn't develop as hoped at Spurs, Dean Parrett. That's two that certainly would have played for our first team. He's done a fine job for the youths IMO. | |
