Latter day Leeds legend...or liability?
Latter day Leeds legend...or liability?

To be honest, if Kisnorbo is worth another year then why not Richard Naylor?

Yes, at the beginning of the season, the Leeds captain Richard Naylor had started to show his advancing years. However the 34-year-old returned resurgent in the final weeks of the season and appeared to stablised a notoriously leaky defence.

Naylor's Leeds connections are well known, despite 15 years in Suffolk as an Ipswich player. Having a Leeds tattoo or knowing all the words to Marching On Together does not give you the right to play for Leeds (imagine the amount of fat beer monsters spilling onto the hallowed ER turf if it did - mind you they would do no worse than McCartney!), however if Leeds are prepared to offer a minimal contract extension to Paddy Kisnorbo who made just one substitute appearance last season in the final day win at QPR- the reason not to offer something similar to Naylor, who made 15 appearances last season, does not seem logical.

Naylor recently spoke of wanting to share his wealth of experience with the clubs many younger players, a semi-coaching role, however this has fallen on deaf ears as far as Simon Grayson is concerned,

I feel that Grayson's precedecessors were often a bit quick to dispense with players the wrong side of 30, mole-allegations aside, Shaun Derry has just helped lead QPR into the Premiership and Neil Sullivan has played on for another five years or so having been axed on the back of a woeful play-off final performance - lets hope he has got this one right!

In the meantime, we wish Nayls all the best and hope to see him roaring us on from the stands again soon rather than making a crucial interception on the park in the colours of one of our Championship rivals.
