Anderson Nearing Swansea Return
Anderson Nearing Swansea Return

Swansea City have had a six figure bid for Paul Anderson accepted by Liverpool.

Anderson spent the League One 2007/08 title winning season on loan with the Swans and his first stint was seen as a huge success, scoring 7 goals in 31 appearances.

Last summer the pacy 20 year old was hot property with a clutch of clubs vying for his signature. However the Leicester born midfielder opted for a move to Nottingham Forest for family reasons.

It was thought that the Liverpool man was a major transfer target for Swans boss Roberto Martinez after Nathan Dyer's loan deal from Southampton expired and an agreement could not be reached with the Hampshire club to sign the winger outright.

Despite the offer from the Anfield club being accepted, Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has urged caution, with personal terms yet to be discussed as he outlined on the official site, “We have had a six-figure sum with Liverpool accepted. I must stress that Paul is one of a number of options we are pursuing.

"Roberto has highlighted a number of players he is interested in and we have been pursuing them while he has been away scouting various players in various countries. The offer has been accepted by Liverpool, but it is still subject to us agreeing personal terms and Roberto sitting down with the player for further talks.

"Whoever we sign, we want players who want to play for Roberto and Swansea City. That attitude is vital - however good they are.''

Should Anderson sign on at the Liberty Stadium he will become Swansea's second addition in the space of two weeks with the arrival of Striker Stephen Dobbie from Queen Of The South.
