Norris is the latest transfer target Wednesday, 18th May 2011 13:58 by Tim Whelan Simon Grayson is hoping to Ipswich Town midfield player David Norris, but so do Nottingham Forest and Hull City. 30 year old Norris was the Ipswich captain last season, but he is now available on a free transfer after spurning their offer of a two-year contract, as he had been hoping for a three-year deal. He originally cost the Tractor boys £2m when he signed from Plymouth Argyle in January 2008, and their fans voted him the player of the season for 2011/2. Norris is a hard-working midfield player, so he could be just what Leeds need to give the back four a bit more protection, and last season he also popped up with eleven goals in all competitions. Recruiting a central midfield player is now a priority for Grayson, given the likely departure of Neil Kilkenny and Bradley Johnson, although there are now conflicting reports as to whether Johnson will be at Leeds next season. While the ever-reliable Sun reported on Monday that Stoke City, Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic were all chasing his signature, the equally trustworthy Star claimed that he was now happy to stay at Elland Road. However, Ken Bates has already said that he won’t be increasing the offer that he has already made to Johnson, so Grayson has to assume that he won’t be around in August.
