Keshi Stuart Oluyinka Adetokunboh Anderson (born 6 April 1995) is an English professional footballer who plays as a striker for Blackpool.

After playing youth football with Watford and non-league football with Barton Rovers, Anderson turned professional with Crystal Palace in 2015. He never appeared for the Palace first team, and spent loan spells with Doncaster Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Northampton Town and Swindon Town. He signed permanently for Swindon in January 2018, leaving the club in June 2020 to sign for Blackpool.

Career

After spending time with the Watford Academy,[ Anderson began his senior career with Barton Rovers, scoring 32 goals in 53 games in all competitions, including 26 league goals in 41 matches. After scoring a hat-trick in 6 minutes while on trial at Brentford against Crystal Palace, the latter club signed him in February 2015. He scored on his debut for the Palace under-21 team, and a day later Palace manager Alan Pardew stated that Anderson would be in his senior squad for the forthcoming game away at Leicester City on 7 February.

Anderson joined Doncaster Rovers on a one-month loan on 24 September 2015 and made his Football League debut against Sheffield United a couple of days later. In October, the loan was extended until January 2016. On 21 November, Anderson suffered a broken leg in a match against Rochdale, and returned to Palace.

On 31 August 2016, it was confirmed that Anderson had moved to Football League One side Bolton Wanderers on a season-long loan deal. He scored on his Bolton debut three days later as the Wanderers came from behind to draw 1—1 with Southend United at the Macron Stadium. Crystal Palace recalled Anderson on 16 January 2017, and he signed for Northampton Town on loan the next day.

On 31 August 2017, Anderson joined League Two side Swindon Town on loan until January 2018. Two days later, Anderson made his Swindon debut in their 4—1 home defeat against Barnet, featuring for 66 minutes before being replaced by Kaiyne Woolery. On 16 September 2017, Anderson scored his first goal for Swindon during their 3—2 home victory over Stevenage, doubling the hosts lead in the 13th minute. After the conclusion of his loan period, Anderson joined Swindon on a permanent transfer on 16 January 2018.

A new contract was offered by manager Richie Wellens at the end of Swindon Town's EFL League Two title winning 2019—20 season. However, Anderson declined the offer and took to social media to announce that he was leaving the club upon the expiry of his contract.

Anderson signed for Blackpool on a two-year contract on 29 June 2020, including an option for the club to extend the deal by a further year.

Blackpool: Keshi Anderson signs on two-year deal after Swindon Town release

Blackpool have signed striker Keshi Anderson on a two-year deal following his release by Swindon Town.

Anderson, 25, scored six goals in 20 league appearances to help the Robins to the League Two title, having initially joined on loan them in 2017.

The ex-Crystal Palace trainee is head coach Neil Critchley’s first signing since he was appointed in March.

“I’m really excited to see where the club can go and I can’t wait to get started,” Anderson said.

Swindon fans' reaction:

Keshi saying that the Blackpool manager was the main reason for joining them. Maybe the case that him and Wellens still didn't see eye to eye?

Bit sorry to see Keshi go. I thought he was great this season and was probably the best player we had at carrying the ball into the final third. His end product wasn't what it should have been still but i would have had him ahead of DJ. Going forward though DJ is younger, has already proved a better end product and certainly has more potential for me.

Couple that with the off field stuff that goes with Keshi (Incident in preseason with Wellens, plus the Norris stuff) and good luck to the lad exploring options elsewhere.

Hopefully the EFL sorts out next seasons plans and we can start planning for league 1. I have complete faith in Wellens recruitment. We got promoted based on goals and we will need a higher level of creativity in the team to account for better opposition. I'm sure he's got his eye on players that are a step up from Keshi.

Blackpool lay down marker of intent as they make Swindon Town forward their first signing of the summer

Blackpool have made Swindon Town forward Keshi Anderson their first signing of the summer.

The Seasiders become one of the first clubs in League One, if not the first, to snap up an out-of-contract player.

The forward, who helped Swindon clinch promotion from the fourth tier last season, has signed a two-year deal with the option to extend by a further 12 months.

“I’m delighted to be joining a club the size of Blackpool," Anderson said.

“The head coach was a big reason in why I moved here. I’ve spoken to a few of the lads that I’ve previously played with, such as Sullay Kaikai and Gary Madine, and they had nothing but good things to say about Neil’s approach to the game.

“This club is definitely moving in the right direction and there are some big plans for the future.

"I’m really excited to see where we can go, and I can’t wait to get started.”

This signing further illustrates Simon Sadler’s commitment to getting the Seasiders promoted next season, the club told The Gazette.

During the coronavirus outbreak, Blackpool took the bold decision to not furlough its recruitment team, a decision that is now reaping its benefits.

Anderson, who can play across the front line, scored six goals in 22 outings for Richie Wellens’ Swindon side last season.

The 25-year-old, who began his professional career with Crystal Palace, has previously spent loan spells with Doncaster Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Northampton Town and Swindon, where he subsequently moved on a permanent basis in 2018.

Despite being offered a new deal by Swindon, Anderson declined the offer to allow him to make the move to Bloomfield Road.

Neil Critchley, commenting on his first signing as Blackpool's head coach, said: “I’m thrilled we have been able to get this deal over the line for Keshi, particularly so early on in the summer.

“I think he will be a real asset to the squad going forward.

"He will bring a tremendous amount of quality to the team and at 25 years of age, his best playing days are ahead of him.”

A second consecutive promotion is the aim for Blackpool’s first summer signing Keshi Anderson.

The forward arrives at Bloomfield Road having recently celebrated Swindon Town’s League Two title win.

The 25-year-old, who has agreed a two-year deal with the Seasiders with the option to extend by a further 12 months, turned down a new contract at the County Ground to pave way for his switch to the Fylde coast.

“It’s been on the cards for a few weeks now so I’m glad it’s finally done and I’m here, ready to go,” Anderson said.

“What was it about the club that made me want to come here? The manager, first and foremost, definitely.

“I spoke to a few of the boys I’ve played with previously, players like Gary Madine and Sullay Kaikai, and I asked what it’s like in terms of style of play, the manager, his coaching, tactics and things like that. It fits in with what I want and where I want to be.

“Everyone wants a promotion on their CV and obviously I just want another one now. It’s onto next season now.

“I’ve had one, now I want another so hopefully we can push on as a club and get a promotion for me and the club too.

“I want to succeed, I know the manager wants to succeed, I know he’s hungry for it and I can imagine the rest of the players are as well.

“Hopefully I can come in with my hunger and push on the rest of the boys.”

The Seasiders become one of the first clubs in League One, if not the first, to snap up an out-of-contract player.

This signing further illustrates Simon Sadler’s commitment to getting the Seasiders promoted next season, the club told The Gazette.

He's playing well but I'd say Kaikai (who was never favoured enough to be played in his strongest position) would have by far more goals and assists.

Also, Kaikai's work rate, tracking back etc, was criminally overlooked / underrated.

Anderson seems to be injured just as much if not more often.
