This is James Williams from Dynamic3D, just to let you know that today from 14:58 - to 15:15 (and again from 15:30-15:50) you will see my drone recording a cross section of the Swans Vs Villarreal game from the air, and I will be posting the links to the video shortly after, in fact, the first video will be online and viewable from your phones possibly by the end of half time.
I will also be recording the last 15-20 minutes of the game, and that will be uploaded within the hour.
Over the next few months I am also going to be providing live streams via the internet of this service, so if you fancy switching to an aerial view of the swans in real time either while you're in the stadium, or anywhere in the world watch this space.
SAFETY & GREY AREA: I won't be flying directly over the stadium or endangering anyone. I also expect the concept of fans bypassing traditional methods of broadcasting to upset a few people, even if its obviously not going to be as good.
Where will the drone be?
From 14:58 -15:15 You will (depending on where you are seated) see the drone hovering above the East Stand, back from the stadium. About the 30 metres above the roof.
From 15:30-15:50 you will (depending on where you are seated) see the drone hovering above the West Stand, back from the stadium. About the 30 metres above the roof.
Any opinions or concerns are welcome.
(today's content will be posted there, but I will come back here with links just to make sure)

The streaming thing might be a problem, which is why I have not gone there yet as I need more time to research it.
Pretty sure no one can stop me from filming a public event from the air.
Will keep you posted.
It's not a public event if it's inside the stadium, only viewable normally by paying supporters and tv channels that have received prior permission to film.
May need to check it out.

Video processing is takng longer than expected for the 1st half section as I used the highest quality settings which while good for the best quality video are not practical to turn around in a matter of minutes. This is why it does not pay to be optimistic:)
Results of the first video are pretty decent though as you will see as soon as its processed and uploaded to youtube.
Will capture the second part shortly, hope to get both online in the next few hours, I'm just waiting for the computer to render it all and upload.
Thanks for your patience...

Watching the way the match is going - do you have any missiles on your drone?

OK, the first part is uploading now and will be viewable at the below URL around 22:00-22:30 this evening, and I managed to capture one of the goals. Sadly it was not ours.
The second part from the other side of the stadium was not very good as I could not get into a decent position so I have left that one out, which given the result might not be a bad thing!
Next week I will have the FPV kit coming which will give me a LIVE view of what the camera can see, so I can frame the shots perfectly and it will make a massive difference as its all guess work at the moment.
I'm not a fan of social media, but if you can like and share it where you can it will help me out, if only to see there are people who are interested.
Not everything went to plan and I only decided to do this late morning, so with a bit more prep, and the missing piece to my setup arriving next week, along with a few other lessons learned, things should get a lot better from here on in. This is the worse it will ever get!
I am also hoping to cover some of the training sessions too, though being a Swansea fan myself I will of course be considerate to what I show. Follow me on twitter if you like, but I will post updates here and one or two other places if you're all ok with it.

I take it that you have a BNUC-S or RPQ certification and CAA permission for what you are doing?
You don't need a license to fly a quad copter on a non commercial basis, and the CAA charge nearly £2000 for a license and that sets a precedent for a lot of their other conditions too.
Its very easy to 'break the rules' when someone with unfettered power is being unreasonable with their demands. its called bullying and exploitation and it happens in every trait of life when something is at its infancy, it happened with racism, working conditions, equality, and its happening with UAV's who the CAA regard as pond life and treat as such.
If I came up to you and threatened you with court action that you need my permission to take a photograph or video every time you wanted to ride your mountain bike along the sea front, and I was prepared to lax those rules if you paid me £1500-£2000 quid I'm pretty sure you would appreciate the sticky position they put people in. It is after all, harder to learn how to ride a mountain bike from scratch and statistically far more dangerous.
Trying to charge me nearly £2000 to fly a gadget that is small enough to fly in my living room at a height lower than what I can throw a pebble at, while reeling off a load of other demands which damage the finances, enjoyment and creative freedom of those using them is inevitably going to needlessly tarnish a lot of people.
While I respect and agree with a lot of rules the CAA enforce and fly safely, I won't be held to financial and creative ransom under the murky guise that I'm a bad person for doing something which is safer than walking down your local high street.
When the CAA have a price plan which is actually designed to promote safety and not demonize people to make their jobs easier, I'm sure myself and a LOT of others will be happy to comply, as it stands, you can pass your car, hgv, bike and forklift license COMBINED for less money and restrictions than it costs to obtain a license to fly a quadcopter with a camera in my local field.
I'm not the one that needs revision here.

I don't think it's the flying of the drone you need to worry about it's the filming of the game that's the problem.
The first ever recipient of a Planet Swans Lifetime Achievement Award.
Very proud to be voted Planet Swans Poster of the Year 2017 by my fellow posters. Especially on a site that nearly had 20 million impressions last year.
I kind of agree with you Dar but what about all these oiks filming with their mobiles and then putting it up on Youtube??
All matches played for the league are copyrighted by FA and Premier League. Take photos or video and a steward will be tapping you on the shoulder, confiscating equipment with the police or ejecting you. It's in the printed stadium rules you see as you enter.
If you're spotted at least anyway.

Swansea Vs Villarreal Aerial test Video on 14:31 - Aug 11 by TheFranchise
If I shot it out of the sky for invading my privacy, would you be annoyed?
It would take a pretty committed person to go near a stadium full of police and cameras and take pot shots with a rifle or fire rocks or bearings via a catapult.
I have anticipated this though, the device is fitted with a parachute which automatically turns off the motors and deploys a parachute if it descends at a rate which resembles a fall and it emits a loud beep, it is also on a manual switch so if I see anything odd I can activate it manually or get the hell out of there. And I'll be keeping an eye out.
The device is made up of lots of small parts which an average cost of about £15 each and each part are easy to replace so costs and safety are pretty much taken care of and rage will be kept to a minimum :)
